Frequently Asked Questions
| How does (OCR) Optical Character Recognition work? | |
| Link ECM utilizes OCR in two different ways. The first is our OCR robot. The system will automatically search out image format files in the database and OCR the files that are not already OCR’d. The original file is replaced with a fully OCR’d and searchable PDF and the original is written to an archive if you ever require the original format. The second method of OCR is for data extraction and intelligent field recognition. Please see Intelligent Field Recognition. | |
| What is Intelligent Field Recognition (IFR)? | |
| Intelligent Field Recognition recognizes a field not a character, and consequently a whole field is either accepted or rejected. This technology often recognizes text that is considered to be of poor quality or even completely unacceptable for OCR and ICR technologies, therefore further improving the recognition rates when compared to other systems. | |
